Darlington Agency Jail

The Darlington Agency established in 1870 was located on the Cheyenne and Arapaho Reservation. The agency was named after Brinton Darlington, the first US agent assigned to the Agency.  The outside walls of the Darlington Agency jail have many initials, dates, and drawing carved in them. The earliest date is July 10, 1889, and the latest found was 1910. The walls of the jail are made of two by four boards stacked on top of each other. The jail was moved to the museum complex October 3, 1989.
