The Canadian County Museum Complex consists of eight buildings. The 1906 Rock Island Depot is the main building; it all began when Rock Island sold to Union Pacific in 1968 shutting down El Reno's depot. It was then that the Canadian County Historical Society was created with the intent of purchasing the depot for a museum. After the Museum other buildings were brought to the museum grounds; Hotel El Reno, Mennonville Mennonite Church, Possum Holler School, Darlington Agency Jail, General Sheridan's Headquarters, and the Rock Island Caboose & Coal Tender.  In addition to these buildings you will find the Red Barn that was built on site, a Petrified Tree, and a marker for west boundary of the 1889 Land Run.
